Last night I saw Furthur for the second time, in Philadelphia, and it was nothing short of amazing.
Furthur is the Grateful Dead's Bobby Weir and Phil Lesh's latest band. Jerry Garcia died when I was four months old, so I never had a chance to see the actual Grateful Dead, but this was the
next best thing, especially if you are into being among a thousand hippies in one place. Its pretty great.
My dad came with me, because The Grateful Dead has always been his favorite band. He told me he didn't think they would play anything from In The Dark, which was my favorite Dead album as a kid. I used to bring that tape to school in like third grade on my walkman cassette player, thinking I was the coolest thing. Turns out they did play the album! They played My Brother Esau, and it was awesome. They opened up with Truckin, which was a great start. In fact their whole first set was seriously amazing.
But the best song they played? Cassidy.
Yeahh hahah I actually heard Bobby Weir sing the song I was named after. My friend Matt was at the show, and couldn't believe it either. Its the strangest thing ever to have an entire venue of people singing your name as loud as they can at the same time.. but it was cool.
Anyway, really awesome show. I just got home from Philly right now, and I'm exhausted, had such a busy weekend. I went from Fourth of July BBQs and swimming, to sleeping over my cousins' house, to heading up to this concert, to the Philadelphia Museum of Art this morning.
Needless to say: exhausted.
Aesthetically yours,
Cassidy
That's awesome! Glad you had a good time, you must have felt like a rockstar while they chanted your name :)
